Wild Eurasian Otters: The Isle of Mull

The Isle of Mull ~ August 2023

The Isle of Mull was at the top of my list for one reason — photographing otters. After a full day exploring the coastline and covering nearly 28,000 steps without a sighting, I returned to The Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa and set out for a quiet evening walk nearby.

That’s when we finally spotted a single Eurasian otter hunting along the shore. He repeatedly surfaced and dived for food, eventually catching a fish. Floating on his back, he ate part of it in the water before heading to the shore to finish his meal, then slipped back into the water.
