During our trip to the Isle of Mull, Scotland, we decided to visit the famous Staffa Island and Isle of Iona.

Via Staffa Tours, we embarked on an incredible journey of wildlife watching, where we saw Seals, Basking Sharks, Minke Whales, and breaching Thresher sharks! The tour guide even remarked how rare and special the sightings were, so we couldn’t believe our luck!

The most spectacular moment was witnessing a thresher shark breach clean out of the Atlantic — a rare and extraordinary sight. Its power and speed broke the surface with astonishing force, and so strangely nearly perfectly straight! which was a photographer’s dream.

I am really pleased to share this image was later shortlisted in the British Wildlife Photography Awards. and hopefully helped to raise awareness about their conservation. You can learn more about thresher sharks via The Shark Trust below:
